We’ve always believed paper matters.
Not because it is nostalgic. Not because it is traditional. Because it changes the way something feels.
A wedding invitation is one of the first physical pieces of a wedding a guest experiences. Before the venue. Before the flowers. Before the table setting. There is paper.
That is why we were especially happy to see Every Little Something included in The Fairfax Girl’s guide to celebrating National Stationery Day in Northern Virginia. The feature highlights local shops that are keeping stationery, correspondence and paper goods alive — including our Middleburg shop and our custom invitation work.
For us, that connection between the shop and the wedding studio is important.
We spend a lot of time talking about the visual side of wedding stationery — color, typography, illustration, texture, printing methods, envelopes. But good stationery is about more than how it photographs.
It is about the experience of receiving it.
Picking up an envelope that has weight to it. Opening something that was made for one specific celebration. Running your hand across letterpress or foil. Seeing artwork created for a couple rather than adapted from a screen template. Keeping the invitation long after the wedding itself is over.
Those details are difficult to replicate digitally, and we are not particularly interested in trying.
At Every Little Something, we design wedding stationery as a physical part of the wedding itself. Save the dates and invitations establish the world guests are about to enter. Menus, place cards, programs and day-of paper carry that world into the celebration. When the pieces are considered together, paper becomes part of the architecture of the event rather than another item on a checklist.
That belief also shapes our shops.
The Fairfax Girl described Every Little Something as a place focused on stationery, gifts and moments spent away from devices. That is exactly the point.
We like things you can hold.
A handwritten note. A beautiful card. A notebook that gets marked up. An invitation that ends up tucked into a drawer for twenty years.
There is plenty in life that should be faster and more efficient. We’re not convinced everything needs to be.
Wedding stationery certainly doesn’t.
For National Stationery Day, we’re grateful to be included among the Northern Virginia businesses still making space for paper — and for all the little rituals that come with it.
